The Professional Bowtied Bassoonist

Kevin Pfister: Kevin Pfister, is a professional bassoonist who currently plays second bassoon with the Sarajevo Philharmonic in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He recently graduated with a MM degree in Bassoon performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music where he studied with Christopher Millard, Principal bassoon of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He received his BM in Bassoon Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Barrick Stees, associate principal bassoon of The Cleveland Orchestra. He substitutes often with the Canton Symphony and has played with the Ashland Symphony in Ohio. For two summers, he was a Woodwind TA at Interlochen Music Camp in Michigan. In the summer of 2014, Kevin was the bassoonist for Camp-of-the-Woods, a Christian resort in upper state New York. In 2010 Kevin attended the Aspen Music Festival. In high school, he was blessed to study with renowned bassoon pedagog Shirley Curtiss, play with the Weinstein Woodwind Quintet at Settlement Music School, and the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. One year after starting bassoon at age 16, Kevin joined the Advanced Study Weinstein Woodwind Quintet at Settlement Music School.
